In the Winter comes from the feeling of Central Park during a snowstorm. The entire landscape is blanketed in white, Â like soft ice cream piled on top. Amidst this scene, a snow spirit appears and encounters a photographer. The photographer continues to search for this spirit, flipping through photos in hopes that they might still be there.
We all experience moments when someone shows up unexpectedly. In the Winter is about those spontaneous, seemingly fated moments that feel a little bit like magic.Â
Making in the winter

In the Winter is a softer, lighter film that offers a sense of healing, at a time when much of the work by younger creators tends to be darker or more intense. It was produced under significant pressure during a demanding production period.
While snow may appear as a flat, plain white, it actually reflects a wide range of colors, especially in the shadows, where it interacts with warmer light.
The film draws inspiration from snow photography and is also influenced by Japanese folktales, such as Crane’s Return of a Favor.
