Nekoaoya grew out of an informal circle of artists across diverse mediums, projects, and experimental ideas. With John G. leading as producer, bringing expertise in data and strategy, the studio brings these creative visions to life. Nekoaoya continues to operate in the field of animation.Â

From the beginning, Nekoaoya has been shaped by an interest in cultural exchange, bringing together diverse artistic perspectives across regions. Drawing on life and production experience from New York with themes of identity in the work, the studio has developed a distinct voice that resonates with a wider audience.

Nekoaoya works with a sister studio in Beijing, Springhill Eizou Film & Media Co., Ltd. (named after the Springhill Mine Disaster from a poem by Richard Brautigan). Their work leans toward advertising, combining animation with live-action. Animation work can be handled by Nekoaoya as part of these collaborations.
