Not Alone Animated Short Film
Â
Not Alone is an experimental 2D animated short film that explores themes of identity, belief, and the blurred line between reality and imagination. Through shifting imagery, the film follows fragments of the main character Cat’s memories of Rabbit, while invoking the medical phenomenon of chimerism to suggest a deep emotional bond that begins before birth.
There's no clear linear storyline, but instead space is left open for the audience to interpret it in their own way.

Making Not Alone

The development of Not Alone wouldn't have been possible without the guidance of director Momo Cao’s mentor, Liz Blazer. Liz is a filmmaker, animator, and former Disney development artist who taught the 10 Cards storytelling method, drawing a story into 10 storyboard cards, then rearranging them to open up new narrative possibilities. It works like a dream, how separate moments find their way into connection.
